Eating in Marathon

We have enjoyed eating the Stone Crab claws (now $1.25 per claw) at Keys Fisheries, the Pad Thai and Massaman Curry at the restaurant across from the city marina, and being social at Hurricane's for 25 cents Wing night on Thursdays. We stopped going to wing night due to bad service resulting in cold food and warm beer. It takes an hour or so to get our food and sometimes if you aren't lucky it doesn't come at all. You can see Gia fell asleep while we waited around for our food. We had some bad experiences with various waitresses so we aren't inclined to go there anymore. But in the end, we enjoy our home cooking much better. We enjoy eating Spanish Tortilla, delicious creamy and broth soups, wontons, stir-fried rice noodles, tasty burgers and thick-cut pork chops on the grill. We are fortunate to have a Publix nearby the marina so we can get fresh foods and eat well on the boat while we have been on the mooring ball. I am getting hungry... lunch time. :)

  1. We found Lazy Days at the end of our time in Marathon, which beats Hurricane's by a long shot. We could dinghy there and happy hour was everyday from 4-6pm, which made for less of a crowd and better service. You could get wings, jalapeno poppers, conch fritters, or shrimp at 3 for $1 and half off drafts and mixed drinks. The restaurant was much nicer and the servers were better and more friendly. I would recommend the wings for the best deal because they are so big and meaty compared to Hurricane's puny wings. The jalapeno poppers are tasty and good sized as well, but the conch fritters were not that good to me. I liked the shrimp hot and dipped in clarified butter, but you have to eat so many before you are satisfied that it isn't really economical. We like Lazy Days so much better than Hurricane's we vowed never to return for their Wing Night. Note: The restaurant is constructing their dinghy dock at the time so you will have to dock in the shallow area behind the fuel station on the right when entering the marina or some other place.
